The Dutch firm Petroholland Limited has said that it is ready to invest in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in the field of cement, oil and agriculture.
After the meeting in Berlin (Germany) with Julien Paluku, Minister of National Industry, René Kessel, General Director of Petroholland Limited explained that his company first favors the production of cement for the construction of large projects such as the Deep Water Port and Inga III . He also announced that his company will be paving between February and March 2020.
“Normally it is between February and March 2020 that companies will be able to come, but for oil exploitation it is a discussion that we are having with the government. For the construction about deepwater in Banana Port, cement is needed and this is where I am going to start to later produce cement for the construction of roads since the port is going to need infrastructure”, said René Kessel.
In a joint report published last October, Resources Matters and Groupe de Recherche sur le Congo recommended that Félix Tshisekedi reopen the management of Inga III to the participation of civil society and the country’s regular institutions.
